Who hires and pays the educator?
Your centre does. You hire the educator for the day and pay them through your payroll, at the hourly rate you posted, for the hours you confirm. Staff My Centre never handles their pay, and takes nothing from it.
How do you check educators?
Our team interviews every educator and checks their documents before they get shifts: a vulnerable sector check, first aid and CPR and, for RECEs, College of ECE registration. They must keep their documents current.
Can I ask an educator I already know?
Yes. Ask one educator who's free first. Only they can accept until they answer or the time you set runs out. Then we alert everyone free nearby, or you choose someone else.
Which centres can join?
Any licensed child care centre in Ontario, whether or not it's enrolled in CWELCC. We review every centre before it can post shifts.
What does it cost?
Centres pay one membership a year, $500 plus applicable taxes, for all their locations, with no hourly or per-shift fees. Memberships run with the calendar year: join part-way through and you pay only for the months left. Educators pay nothing. Our first 50 centres get their first 6 months free: 50 places are left, given in the order we approve centres.
What do educators see before they accept?
Everything they need to decide: where the shift is, the role, the day and hours, the pay, and any notes you add. Once an educator accepts, you'll see who's coming, with their mobile and email.
